Calf Augmentation - Surgery
Who is Qualified to Perform Calf Augmentation?
Calf augmentation surgery is a very delicate and demanding procedure which is only performed by a small
minority of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. Performing Calf enlargement with implants
requires extensive knowledge of the lower extremity anatomy, as well as the know-how to work with implants in this challenging
area of the body. Furthermore, it requires attention to detail, as well having a sense of proportion and harmony of body parts.
More importantly than any other cosmetic surgery procedure, make sure that your doctor is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
who has had ample experience in calf augmentation.
Calf Augmentation Surgery
Calf augmentation is a procedure that usually takes less than two hours. It can be performed under general anesthesia,
regional anesthesia such as spinal or epidural block, or under sedation. The patient is positioned prone, and a two inch
incision is made in the Popliteal fossa, which is the concavity behind the knee. Through this incision implants are placed
underneath the leg fascia and over the medial and lateral bellies of the Gastorcnemius muscle. The separating septum between
the medial and lateral Gastorcnemius muscles is preserved in order to prevent the over lap of the calf implants.
Attention is directed to the Peroneal and Sural nerves, in order to prevent complications of foot drop and numbness.
After closure of the incision the leg is wrapped in supporting compression dressing.
"I love wearing high heels and sheer pantyhose. I think that beautiful
curvy legs are the sexiest feature of a woman. So, I got my calves done, and I love it!"
